Falkenberg : Hansson and Palm score again !
The 4th round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia took place on the track of Falkenberg, in Sweden.
After a very positive result at Mantorp and Anderstorp, Fragus BR Motorsport and its two drivers hoped to consolidate its second place in the standings on the track of Falkenberg.
Palm and Hansson set the pace in free practice, scoring the 1st and 2nd fastest lap times of the session. However, the qualifying went less well, with both cars in 5th and 6th on the grid while Q2 was eventually cancelled due to Andersson’s heavy accident.
Race 1 took place under rain conditions. After a great start, Hansson climbed the field up to 3rd, scoring his 4th podium of the season and his 3rd consecutive. Palm, on his side, kept his car in 5th position.
While the track dried for Race 2, the paddock had the surprise to find out that Philip Morin, from Cirkus Karlsson, switched his car with his team mate Matts Karlsson, after having detected a damage in his chassis forbidding him to take part to the rest of the event. Without the approbation either of the series or all the other competitors, the driver of car 86 managed to take the start with Karlsson’ car.
Palm, starting from P5, quickly climbed in the top 3 behind Mangs and Rantzow. After Rantzow went off, Oscar fought with Mangs for victory until the last lap, crossing the finish line at a great 2nd place. Hansson, on his side, drove from 6th to 4th, scoring important points for the championship.
After these results, Fragus BR Motorsport confirms its second place in the general teams’ standings, while Hansson and Palm lie in 5th and 6th places in the drivers’ standings.
The next event of the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia will take place at Karlskoga, the second week of August.
