Skövde : A first bittersweet race week-end

After a very positive pre-season test program, which saw Robin Hansson and Oscar Palm topping the charts at Karlskoga and Anderstorp, Fragus BR Motorsport travelled to the city of Skövde, Sweden, to take part to the first round of the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia.

Built on the local airport, the track offers a low level of grip and doesn’t allow any mistake due to the proximity of the walls. Robin Hansson set the pace in the first free practice session, scoring the fastest lap time in front of ex-Formula Renault 2.0 racer Philip Morin, while his team mate Oscar Palm ended up the session in 5th position.

During the qualifying, Hansson immediately put his nº31 car in front, with his team mate Palm closely behind. Unfortunately, the driver from Kullavik lost the back of the car entering turn 1 and ended up in the protection barriers, forcing the session to be red flagged. While Palm finished the session in 5th place, Hansson’s fastest lap was only placing him 9th, not enough to be qualified for the second session.

In the second qualifying session, Palm managed to score the 3rd fastest laptime, placing him on the second row for Race 2.

Hansson’s damages being too important, he couldn’t take part to the races and had to retire from the race week-end. On his side, Palm was involved in a three cars crash in the second lap, after Karlsson lost his direction entering turn 2. His car being badly damaged, Palm was also unable to take part to race 2 and had to retire from the event.

The team will now work hard to prepare the cars for the next event, on May 25th at Mantorp Park.
